How To Celebrate Valentine's Day With Kids

Valentine's Day is so much fun, seriously. I know some of you are like, ughhhh and just completely over it and that's cool, but I've always been one to not make a huge deal out of any and everything and Valentine's Day is no different!

There are so many amazing things to do with kids to make it special for them too. One of my absolute favorite things to do is make Pretzel Hugs, Have a Themed Breakfast, Do some Valentine's Day crafting and put together some simple and cute gifts.

Here are 5 really cute, and EASY,ways you can make the Holiday special for kids!

1. Themed Breakfast or Dinner
This is one of my favorite things! I have so much fun putting together our traditional LOVE day breakfast, I've been doing it for a few years now and it's something my kids (and even, Nick!) look forward too. It doesn't have to be big, extravagant or fancy. Most of the time, I just use some Valentine's Day decor I have laying around to create the table, and find paper plates and themed cups or napkins at Target. Typically on the menu?

Heart Shaped French Toast with strawberries and mini donuts. Duh!;)

2. Valentine's Day Crafts

Again, you can keep things simple and easy here. One of our favorite things to do is make play-doh, or use shaving cream and liquid food coloring to create mini works of heart..um, I mean ART. Target also has super cute themed craft ideas for whatever season you are celebrating. If all else fails, one of our favorite things to do is paint! If you draw something on plain white paper with white crayon and then paint over it, it magically appears! Savanna loves it!

Our Favorite Crayons are these! HERE!

3. Bake Together!

Valentine's Day is THE day where it's totally okay to over- indulge in sweets. Okay, Okay..who am I kidding? We do that every day, but I mean..at least on Valentine's Day it's acceptable. If simple is your things (it's mine!) strawberry cupcakes are easy and festive, and pretzel hugs are super easy and one of our favorite things. This year we made chocolate covered strawberries, and these mini cheery pies and OH MY GOSH. They are delish, so adorable, and easy to make!

4. Small Gifts

People get all weird about Valentine's Day and gifts, I mean, I for one don't care if you do or don't give your kids any gifts for heart day, we do though. It's never anything big, just a few small Valentine's Day treats or themed pajamas. This year, I put together a little goody bucket for Savanna full of some of her favorite things. She's obsessed with books and this one is so adorable. Also, some dollar spot arts and craft goodies and I added a few containers of our newest obsession, Z-Dough,  If you haven't heard about it, you can thank me later! It's the best dough, hands down. It's soft, smooth and scented in different flavors! I snapped about it on SnapChat (are you following us?! @glamfarmhouse) and you guys all asked about it!
WE are so addicted!

As for Nick, who is almost 13, he's over the whole stuffed animals thing. So I just swapped out some chocolates for dolla bills and scratch offs and he will also get an Itunes gift card. Great idea for the man in your life too!

5. Movie Nights
If all else fails, movie nights are a surefire way to bring you close to your little sweeties. Make some popcorn and throw in some pink marshmallows and Valentine's Day M & M's for a sweet treat. Watch a cute classic movie, like Lady And The Tramp or Beauty And The Beast.

Classics that are sure to get you some sweet baby hugs and snuggles!

You don't have to despise Valentine's Day and you don't have to feel bad if you do nothing else but stuff your face with day old pizza and watch The Bachelor. I'm here to tell you, if it's your thing, there are so many sweet ways to celebrate and none of these things require a ton of time or planning on our parts. After all, us momma's have enough on our plates, right?!

However you celebrate the day, I hope it's full of love and hugs and that you spend it doing exactly what it is you want to do.

Do you celebrate Valentine's Day? If so, how do you do it? I'd love to hear from you!

XOXO
