Friday Favorites

I'm back with another edition of Friday Favorites!

I love Fridays for lots of reasons, the number one reason is that Friday usually means that the weekend is bringing us lots of fun plans and or house projects. The truth is, the weekend doesn't mean a break for us Stay at home Mommas and creative minded folks. It just means more time to tackle our projects with our husbands home to help us;)

This week, I wanted to share a few of my favorite things with you guys!

Like this super awesome rug I shared on Instagram that ya'll freaked about. I was so excited to find it for under $15 at target
I'm in the middle of a style crisis and switching things over from the blue I've been loving all these years to black and white, At first I was scared, but the rug totally pulled everything together and now I'm pretty much obsessed. Also, maybe one day I'll get around to painting these cabinets;)

As per usual Friday Favorites post, here are the flowers of the week. I really love having fresh flowers around you guys, especially when things are feeling really rainy, and gross and I need something to cheer me up!
Love those fluffy blue blooms! Don't you?!

I'm currently shopping for a new light fixture for our upstairs entryway. It's harder then I thought making a decision. I'm so weird about lighting! I'm currently crushing on this one from Shady Oaks Farm
But then I'm also loving this one which takes us in a completely different direction.
UGH. How do you choose? I love both for different reasons and I'm having the worst time choosing. Which one do you guys like better?

I was so excited to spot this adorable mug at Home Goods tucked away in a corner! The colors were so pretty! I'm a bit of a mug collector (among other things) and can never pass up a cute one. This one is my go too for a while;)

I'm also loving this minty little clock. It's the cutest, right? I also just realized I have a clock obsession. Who Else? You can find this little beauty at Curtis Creation!

I bet you didn't know I was a makeup junkie, huh? I've tried SO many under-eye concealers for my dark circles and there were a few things that were okay, but then I stumbled across THIS concealer by Becca and I'M OBSESSED. I'm on my third jar and it's truly amazing. If you've been searching for a great stay put concealer this one is it and you totally need to check it out. TRUST ME!

We're heading to DISNEY WORLD in just three weeks ya'll! Sort of freaking out because I have so much to do to prepare, but crazy excited at the same time. We're going for Nick and Savanna's birthdays so this trip is extra special for us:) We're staying at the Beach Club and I'm super excited about it. We've never stayed there before but I was sold on the fact that you can literally walk, YES WALK, to Epcot and Hollywood Studios!

It's supposed to be a rainy weekend but we're planning to make the best of things. I'm really wanting to rip up our carpet in the living room and get started laying hardwood but we're going to be so busy over the next few weeks I don't know if it's going to happen, but I'm spontaneous so who knows! Next weekend will be our first beach weekend of the year and we're super excited and hoping the weather is better by then! I hope you guys have a great weekend doing whatever it is you love to do!

Be sure to follow along with TGF on Snap Chat if you don't already. You can find me @glamfarmhouse there!

How to Age NEW Metal

Raise your hand if you love the vintage patina and look of aged metal! *Raises Hand* Well then, stick around and let me tell ya the secret to taking your NEW metal (you know, like those super cute but really shiny metal pails in a certain dollar spot that everyone knows about? (Cough, Target, Cough) and making it look, well, old.

Why would you want to do this you ask? Well, if you're here at TGF it's probably because you're kinda diggin' farmhouse and rustic style. So, that means, shiny and new really ain't your thing. I want my metal to look old and aged so it fits in with my current decor, at the same time, I'm obsessed with the cute little pails that seem to come every season and love to use them in different vignettes. Aging the metal to look older gives the pieces some character and makes them seem a bit more appealing, at least to me.

Just check out some of my favorite Target One Spot pails that I've snagged over the past few months.

All super cute, right? Would you know they were $3 bucks? Or not even a few months old? Probably not.

So let's chat a little bit about just how to "age" metal on your own.

It's way easier then you might think and only requires two ingredients and about an hour of your time. (Give or take.)

By now you're probably like, just SHUT UP and tell me already..or you scrolled all the way through the first half of the post and are just looking for the good stuff. That's okay, I forgive you because I do it too. Shh. We're all friends here.

Okay, Ingredient number 1?

Any vinegar will do, but I just like to use white vinegar because it smells less weird. At least I think so.

Second you need BLEACH.

I like splashless best, just because it seems to make less of a mess.

Once you have those two ingredients let's gather our "supplies".

I typically just go ahead and do this process in my kitchen sink for smaller things, for bigger things you can use a big plastic storage tub or similar. But you'll probably need double the bleach and vinegar.

Step 1:
Start by putting your shiny item in the sink or tub or whatever you're using.
Step 2:
Then go ahead and fill it about a third of the way covered with water.
Step 3:
Once that's done, it's time to break out the bad stuff.
I typically do equal parts water/vinegar/bleach, so a third of the way with water, a third of the way with bleach, and a third of the way with vinegar.

Now is the hardest part, at least for me. The waiting. UGH, I HATE WAITING. But trust me, it's going to be worth it.

Resist the urge to dip you're hands in the mixture. You need to give the metal time to soak up the bleach and vinegar. I typically wait about 15-20 minutes, and then take a peek.

If there's a weird black film, that's normal. Just take a paper towel and DAB, DO NOT RUB, DAB away the black. This will just add to the patina and make the metal look more authentic and aged.

Let it dry and then feel free to use it in any way you please!

So pretty, right? And I just love that it looks more authentic and old once I do this little trick. It might be cheating, but don't judge me and I won't judge you. Obviously there's nothing better then the real thing, but if you can't get your hands on the real thing, or if you simply can't pass up the Target goodness, this is totally another great option!

So what do you think? Will you be trying this? I'd love to hear about it! Leave me a comment below and let me know your thoughts!

[DISCLOSURE: It's true that mixing high levels of bleach and vinegar together is toxic. But you'd have to have a significant amount for it to be deadly. You can opt to use just bleach if that makes you more comfortable and you'll get a similar effect but will most likely have a thicker film.]

5 Favorite Farmhouse Trays

I have an obsession with lots of things. Vintage Things, Rustic Things, Chippy Things. Pillows, Blankets, Lanterns.. okay. You get it. But one of my favorite things?

I can never pass up on a good one. Nope. Never. I know some of you can relate. Or at least I hope so because that's what I tell Nick when he says "Do you REALLY need another tray?" (or throw pillow, or lantern, or blanket, or basket..or..well. You get the idea.)

I get asked about my trays a lot, especially on Instagram. So I figured I would just put my favorite trays together in a post so I can just direct you guys here when you ask about my trays, or where to find them.

There are lots of great shops online to find trays if you don't have luck at places like Home Goods and Tuesday Morning. Antique stores, yard sales and flea markets are a great place to find old chippy galvanized trays too. I often order my trays online though just because the selection is awesome and I can find exactly what I'm looking for. Or sometimes, find something I don't even know I'm looking for. Insert REALLY obvious *wink* emoji, here. ;)

So here are some trays I'm loving at the moment, all for different reasons. And don't limit your trays to just displaying stuff in your kitchens or dining rooms. I use trays in my bedroom, bathrooms, kids rooms, basically everywhere. Not only are trays cute, but they are super functional too.

Check out my favs with the reasons why I love them below!
I love the shape of this one, It would be perfect for displaying hand towels and other essentials in a bathroom or guest bath.
MY favorite tray, obviously. This is the one I always post about. By far my favorite. Hands down. I style mine up for the seasons with some of my favorite kitchen decor items.
Perfect for buffets and styling mugs and coffee stations! Lots of space for organizing and display.
This large rustic style tray is one of my favorites! I love to see it styled up for living room displays, or with several candle sticks on a dining room table for a big impact and farmhouse effect.
THE PERFECT Kitchen Tray! I love the vintage goodness of this one. Perfect for storing and displaying snacks (bags of chips) etc on a kitchen counter or in a pantry for easy access.

Which tray is your favorite?! I'm thinking I need one (or two) of each!
Thank you guys for stopping by today. I always appreciate your comments, they each mean so much to me, truly!

How To Keep Your House Smelling Clean

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #SpringIntoClean #CollectiveBias

It's that time of year friends, the time of year when we're all throwing out our old clothes, making spring cleaning checklists, Shampooing our carpets and working on new house projects we've been holding off on during those cold (ridiculously LONG) Winter months.

Do you wonder what your home smells like to other people? This is something I seriously stress myself to death over. I'm the momma of 3 pups, a teenage son, a messy husband and a pretty careless toddler. SO. I'm constantly burning candles, spraying disinfectant sprays and wondering if my house smells "clean". I mean, it doesn't have to actually BE clean, but I want it to at least smell like it, ya know? ;)

So today, I wanna talk about different ways I keep my home smelling clean and fresh with all of the different aspects I have working against me (like my 13 year old's feet, blahhh). In particular, the living room, because well, that's where we are a lot. And because it's carpet, we have to work a little harder in here to make sure things don't get stinky.
One of my seriously favorite things is candles, I'm literally burning a candle 99% of the time. I have them everywhere. To the point where at night, I feel like I'm hosting a Wiccan ritual when I'm blowing all of them out. No. Seriously. But let's face it, candles just MASK the odor, they don't really get RID of it.

And this is where my lifesaver, my holy grail, my saving grace, my..well, you get the idea, right? Comes in. And the good news is, it doesn't cost a ton, ELIMINATES odors and kills 99% of viruses and bacteria in the air.

TOTAL win for everyone.
Yes friends, Lysol Disinfectant Spray is my favorite thing. It only takes a little bit to get things smelling fresh and clean again. And one can literally lasts me FOREVER, not forever but well, long enough. You can check out some other odor busting Lysol supplies via this little link here

And since I know ya'll love Target as much as me, you can get 10% off all Lysol products from 3/27-5/14!

Check out more info here. Even better? If you buy THREE Lysol Products at Target, you get one FREE! (valid 3/27-5/16.) So you can stock up!

Moving on, When candles and sprays don't cut it, the easiest and easy maintenance thing to use is the Air Wick® Scented Oil Warmers just plug that baby in, and forgetta bout it!
Plus with so many scents to chose from you're sure to find a scent that appeals to you. Check them out here. My current fav is the coconut (pictured) it totally reminds me of the beach and summer, but in a subtle way. Good thing Target is hooking us up with a deal for these too. You'll get 5% off all Air Wick purchases via the Cartwheel App from 3/27-5/14!
Let's play SPOT the oil warmer? It's really discreet which is key for me, I want my house to smell good, but I don't want people to KNOW what I'm using to make it smell good. Sneaky, Sneaky. That's me. (Not really, but let's pretend.)
I'm obviously really obsessed with scents because I've posted a few different cleaning tips in the past, You can check out How To Keep Your CARPETS Smelling Clean here. You can also find out more great information about the goodies I posted today by visiting this Spring Into Clean page!

So tell me, How are you preparing your house for Spring? What oil scent if your favorite? Share it with me in a comment below or let's connect on Instagram, and are you following along on Snapchat? I'm @GlamFarmhouse there too! Would love to have you join the fun! Have a great week! XO

DIH Hanging Gutter Planter

I was so honored and excited to be asked to be apart of this fun new promotion for Home Depot! I teamed up with some really great bloggers to show you all our similar yet different versions of the Hanging Gutter Planter, and blogged about it here.

I had lots of fun putting my take on this project! That's the cool thing about DIY, it's always fun to put your own little twist on things. I decided to paint my planter a bright fun color that reminds me of Spring and Summer. I was going for the ombre effect with the three different shades of blue. Sadly, it's been chilly and windy here in the upper northeast and my flowers are looking a little droopy because of it.
Supplies Needed:
1 vinyl 10 ft gutter (cut into three 30 inch sections)
- 3 sets of gutter end caps
- 20' of 1/4" rope
- Spray Paint of choice! I used three shades of blue on mine.

Still really love the fun this adds to our front porch! And I know we will get tons of enjoyment out of it. How fun would it be to use this for growing strawberries and herbs and spices? Or just displaying a pretty cluster of your favorite flowers?

I also thought it was really cool to use something as basic and simple as a Rain Gutter!

The Home Depot offers several great workshops for DIY'ers. The workshops are available at all Home Depot locations for do-it-yourselfer's of all ages and experience levels. I embarrassingly didn't know that until this campaign! Now I'm pretty sure I'll be signing up for more of these super fun workshops in the future.

There are THREE different workshops offered.
1. Do It Yourself (DIY)
2. Do It Herself (for the ladies!)
3. and Kids.

Customers can learn how to build decor projects, how to make easy home repairs, and how to operate tools through demonstrations and step-by-step instructions. Pretty cool, right?

You can find out more by visiting

There is something so empowering about getting a power tool in your hand. Creating is so fun and a great stress reliever for me! Is it weird I'm sort of planning a girls night at one of these workshops? What a great way to learn how to become a DIY'er yourself!

Be sure to check out ALL of the creative takes on this #DIHworkshop planter!

Friday Favorites

Oh my gosh, haha I totally feel like a Disney movie right now. Major props to you if you know what movie that's from ;) Okay so let's get to business, it's Friday and ya'll know what that means, right? Time for another Friday Favorites post!

I really love these posts because I'm always nosy and want to hear all about what people are diggin' lately. I try to stick to mostly Home Decor things but sometimes venture out into other worlds. Like, you know. Makeup and Clothes.

So let's get started!

I am TOTES diggin' all the pretty things offered by Amici Home, I MEAN. Let's just talk about this adorable canister? It's blue and white and full of farmhouse goodness. Don't you think? You can find this and it's matching friends, in the Dixie Collection on the website I linked too above. Sometimes, you get lucky, and Home Goods has the hookup.
All the freaking heart eyes for this AH-MAY-ZING Sage Wreath. Like, I'm seriously sitting here trying to justify ANOTHER wreath. I'm thinking about remodeling a room just so I can buy this one and display it. Make no mistake, I'll have one in my house soon. SOON.
Gorg right? I can't. UGH.
Moving on, let's chat about Tobacco Baskets and where I FINALLY got my hands on some. If you think you don't need them, UM. You totally DO. Like, you needed them yesterday. I'm so obsessed with mine.
And OBVIOUSLY WHAT Friday Favorites post would be complete without flowers? Say what you want about white tulips, but I just think they are so pretty and simple. Sort of like Farmhouse Style. So that's why whenever I manage to snag them up at the grocery store I take 753 pictures to document and have on hand. Just wait until Peony season. Ya'll are really gunna hate me then.

I was so excited to stumble upon this super awesome, and dummy proof highlighter to use at Sephora, look I'm not a makeup artist but love me some good makeup, or cheap makeup. Whatever. I'm not picky. I just love it. And I'm in LOVE with this highlighter. It's seriously SO so easy and I know it's going to be such a gem when summer FINALLY gets here.

Also, thinking that perhaps I should mention that we're going to a little concert tonight. Not a big deal. Just some guy named Luke Bryan? Okay. So, I've been to see him 4 times and each time is better then the last and I'm always like such a giddy teenager preparing for them. Regardless of the weather this weekend I know it's sure to be a good one! I wish I could take ALL of you with me! Are you following along on SnapCHAT? I'm sure I'll share way too many inappropriate things if ya'll wanna come hang out for a little bit! I'm @GlamFARMHOUSE on there! I'd love to have you stop by!

I hope you have the BEST weekend and spend it doing something you want to do! I'm counting down the days until SUMMER over here! ;) How about you?

A Day in the FIT life

Are you a picky and plain eater? Do you want to be healthy, but don't really dig "healthy" foods? Well, then. Stick around and read my post today. Because I'm about to show you, What a day of clean eating looks like for the picky eater.

The truth is, it's not easy to eat healthy, and I'm not really organized enough to pre-plan and pack meals way in advance. I know. This is really not good because that's one of the big parts of success when it comes to getting healthy, and creating better habits. BUT it's just not me.

I do plan my meals and snacks in advance, I sit down on Sunday and make a rough list of my eating plan for the week, I also make a grocery list so that I'm all prepared to do our grocery shopping on Monday.

Monday starts with me waking up and drinking a ice cold glass of water with a little bit of lemon juice. I used to hate water, but as of late. I crave it. Weird? Maybe. It's so refreshing and gives me so much energy in the morning. More so then coffee or tea has ever done in the past. You can add so many different things to water to make it a bit more tasty. My favorite combination by far? Pineapple and Mint. I just put some frozen Pineapple cubes in my water and let it "diffuse", the result is a mild tasting flavor that makes drinking water a little more fun.

I feed Sav whatever I'm eating that day too. So, on Monday, we both had some strawberries, a hard boiled egg and a whole wheat english muffin with a banana.

Around 10-11am (and after my morning workout!) we're both ready for a small snack. Today we choose carrots and some yummy greek yogurt ranch dip that I found in the veggie section of the grocery store! [1 green container is equal to 10 baby carrots.]

Before we head out to get Nick from school, and after our afternoon chores, I drink some ShakeO to curb my cravings and give me energy, Sav loves smoothies too so I'll usually just throw some frozen bananas and strawberries with some almond milk in the blender after I'm done mixing up my ShakeO.

By the time we're done picking up Nick from school, Sav is wanting another little snack. I typically do a cheese stick and some grapes or an apple or some yogurt with frozen raspberries or similar.

I admit that this is the worst time of day for me, I usually want chips, or snack cakes.. because Nick is opening and closing all the cabinet doors and raiding our fridge for food. I'm persistent though, so I stick to my guns and don't give in to my cravings. Thankfully, since I've started the ShakeO it really helps curb my cravings for sweets and salty foods!

By the time dinner rolls around between 6-7 we're all pretty hungry. (WELL, except for Nick because he's literally eaten everything in the house at this point.)

And we'll eat something healthy for dinner, I refuse to make different meals for everyone, so pretty much, the whole family is eating what I'm eating. Tonight? It's baked yogurt chicken and I promise it is SO YUMMY.

Sometimes, I'm still craving something sweet at the end of the day, and I always crave these little chocolate covered bananas and pineapple bites! I know they aren't super healthy but, I don't want to ignore my cravings and then completely lose it the following day.

Tomorrow, I'll repeat the routine and remind myself that you don't get the ass you want by sitting on it (no, seriously!) ha! and that this whole clean eating thing will be really beneficial to all of us in the end! I promise, it's not so bad. It's amazing how much I really DON'T crave so many things that I used to want ALL the time! The eating part has been super easy. The workout part is brutal. Especially because my muscles have been so sore after my workouts. But I just remind myself that we all start somewhere. Right now it's the workout but someday, it will be the warm up!

Are any of you working out and trying to eat better? Or just wanting to clean up your eating? Come follow me GlamFarmhouse on SnapChat to see more of what I'm eating daily and how I'm working on sticking to my goals! I'd love to have you hang out!

Hope you beauties are having a great week!

Friday Favorites

As I'm typing this, the sun is shining, my windows are open (a few of them anyway!) I can hear the birds chirping and it's supposed to be a nice, sunny, 72 degrees today. I'm so anxious for Spring and Summer, I can almost taste it.

I have some really fun things to share with you this week for Friday Favs! I'm so glad you stopped by to hang out for a few.

First off, I wanna talk a little about my fitness journey. I'm loving the 21 day fix so far and have thought once or twice about becoming a coach(more on that some other time!) I want to keep things where my heart belongs though, and that's home decor first and foremost! That being said, I hope you don't mind me sharing some of my journey here and there with all of you here on my blog, over on SnapChat (@glamfarmhouse) and on Instagram. I am seriously LOVING this Tea Detox from at Teami Blends. I feel less bloated and have more energy! If you want to give this tea a try, use code GLAMFARM for 10% off any order!
Isn't this MUG from Home Goods the cutest!? I WANT MORE!

I'm thrilled to tell ya'll that one of my favorite shops is having a big APRIL WEEKEND SALE! You can get 15% off ANY purchase using code APRIL15 when you checkout.
YES. This means that you can PRE-ORDER my favorite SCALE and get 15% off!
They are on back order until JUNE, but ORDER NOW so that you'll be sure to get one! I can promise you, once they go on sale they will be GONE in 2 SECONDS flat.
Of course there are other super cute things for sale, like my Favorite Farmhouse Tray!

I also just ordered this adorable Fresh Eggs sign! I'm thinking it will look super adorable on top of my fridge in the kitchen! I need something to fill in the empty space. Or at least that's what I'm telling myself!
Super cute, right?!

I'm also super thrilled with this weeks Home Goods find! Which was this little tea towel. Just because I feel like Nick needs to be reminded..
It's totally great, I know it! They had SO many adorable towels there with so many cute sayings. I literally wanted ALL of them! I might go back today for more! It's my new obsession I think. Like I need something else to add to the collection list. I know.

So that's what I'm obsessing over this week!
Stay tuned on Monday for a big announcement to be made right here on
You can expect to see some pretty big projects happening in the near future. More tips, tutorials and DIY projects to keep you busy!
I'm so thankful for your support and to have you here with me.
Have a great weekend sweet friends!
