I. LOVE. DOUGH BOWLS.
That probably doesn't come as a surprise to many of you.
But would you believe me if I told you I didn't buy my first one until last November? Nope. I searched and searched with no luck. I visited my local antique shops regularly. Went to Flea Markets and stalked them on Etsy. Until..one day, one day we stumbled upon a little old Mom & Pop antique shop where my beauty was proudly displayed in a mess of old rusty galvanized buckets and pots and pans.
It was love at first sight.
I never turned back after that, and now, I have several dough bowls. But my first one, and the one I'm sharing in most of my pictures today, will always be my favorite.
Dough Bowls are a really great way to add some farmhouse flair to your spaces, while still sticking to our vintage roots. I just love the idea of the stories they could tell, where they've been and who has used them in the past. That's the beauty of old things, sure new things are nice, but they don't tell a story like old things can. Maybe that's what draws me to them.
I've used mine in many ways, even in the past few months. I'm going to share some of my favorite ways to use them, with you, today!
1. Fill them up!-
In the summer, dough bowls are absolutely stunning displayed with fresh flowers and stems. I use mine often for displaying flowers or to dry out my hydrangeas. In the winter, I fill em up with greenery, like fresh pine, pine cones, and faux snow. In the fall, they are super great filled up with pumpkins of all shapes and sizes!
2. Use them to hold magazines-
EASY AND FUNCTIONAL? UH, YES PLEASE. When I don't have space for my dough bowl on one of my display stands or shelves, it works really great tucked under my table for magazines!
3. Display them on a shelf or stand-
I have a clutter problem, but I like to call it more of a layering "problem". I like to layer things and group them together. I can't put things I love away in a closet, so I end up just moving them around and displaying them in new places. This is true of my dough bowl, it's been in every room of our house!
4. Use them as a centerpiece-
So perfect to display on coffee tables or Buffet Tables as a centerpiece, You can fill it up with pretty candles or do something super simple like Moss covered balls. In the winter, I displayed mine with faux snowballs I made! I would imagine it would also be equally as gorgeous on dining room table! Simple beauty!
5. Use them to display a collection-
Sometimes, a dough bowl is decor in itself, but when I get two things I love together? Oh man, it makes my heart so happy! Like when I mix candles and mason jars together in a display perfect in ANY home or for ANY season!
Moral of the story? DOUGH BOWLS ROCK. THE END.
No, I'm kidding, but seriously. They are super awesome, functional and truly so versatile with any decor style. While I found my dough bowl at a vintage antique shop, I managed to scope out one you can purchase for yourself TODAY! You can thank me later;)
