How To Make Your Home Cozy For Fall

Thank you so much for all of the love and heartfelt comments on my post yesterday it means so much to know I'm not alone in my struggle.

Let's lighten things up around here today, keep things fun. Not trying to get everyone all depressed..

Fall is the best time of year isn't it? Well, I mean that is if you live somewhere where it gets a little cooler, the leaves start to change color and you can feel the cool but still cozy crispness in the air. (is crispness even a word?) Oh well.

Anyway, you get what I'm saying right? Something about this season just makes us so excited to snuggle up and get cozy for the season and upcoming season ahead.

Today I wanted to share with you some ways you can make your home cozy for fall and beyond! I think one of the biggest compliments I get from you guys is that our home feels "cozy". I just love that word so much!

Okay, enough rambling. Let's get started.

1.Blankets-

I mean, this is an obvious one right? But there is nothing more cozy then curling up with a soft cozy blanket, sipping some hot tea or hot cider and watching your favorite Halloween movie! (Hocus Pocus anyone?!) I have tons of blankets laying around. I seriously didn't realize how many until I started this post.. It might be a little ridiculous but I CAN'T STOP BUYING BLANKETS. It get's cold here ya'll.. I need to know I'll be good if the heat goes out. (Trust me, we'll be fine!) Some of my current favs? This soft knit one here or this cozy plaid throw here. We keep them handy on blanket ladders and in baskets and of course, on the sofa!

2.Pillows-

Oh my goodness, Pillows. I love them, I love them so much I dedicated an entire blog post to them, you can check it out {here}. But pillows instantly make any space cozy. In my humble opinion you can never have too many. EVER. I could be up to my knees in pillows and I'd be like, "Nope! I need more." I'm not scared to admit it. Throw them on the floor to cozy up and watch a movie, Sit on them to play board games on Snow Days, Snuggle up in them with a cozy blanket and take a nap. Cozy and Pillows is basically the same word.

3.Texture-
You can do this in so many ways, with rugs, with ship lap walls, or even something simple like a textured basket or place mat. I have a small textured rug in my living room currently, and I also like adding texture by using place mats, and baskets.

4. Candles-

I love candles, all kinds, Doesn't matter what color or size. I love burning them. Especially when the temps get cooler. There is something so relaxing about them and I feel like very fall space needs one, or a few! Burning candles instantly makes a space more inviting and relaxing. I love having them all around me! Some of my current favs? {here and here}

5. Something personal or thrifted
This is sort of a weird one, I just feel like adding a personal element to a space makes it instantly more cozy and inviting. In the living room, I have this little stool that I found in the trash on the side of the road. I gave it a fresh coat of Annie Sloan's Old White Chalk Paint and painted the stripes with gray paint. It's still one of my favorite pieces even though it was something really simple!

6. Rustic or Natural Wood-
You can do this with rustic trays, dough bowls, old windows, old shutters, really anything! Just something old that has character and soul. It can instantly add so much warmth and coziness to a space! Try it!

You can check out more about How I decorate with Dough Bowls here.

7. Lamps & Lighting-
I hate overhead lighting, we have recess lighting throughout our home but I hate using it, I love lamps. They cast such a nice and soft cozy glow that is so relaxing. A good lamp will instantly make a space more cozy! I found this one for a steal at Marshalls, but you can find similar here and here.
Chunky lamps are my absolute favorite thing right now!!

8. Shiplap or Textured Walls-
There is something about shiplap that adds an instant coziness to a space! I had no idea how much of an impact it would make in our living room but it sure does! It makes the room feel so warm and unique. I can't wait to blog about our planked wall we just completed next week right here on the blog!

In the end, the things that make a home cozy, is the people who live inside it, things can never take the place of filling your home with love. It sounds cliche but it's absolutely true. Our home would feel so empty if I didn't have such great people to share it with!

So, what do you think? Will you be doing any of these things to your spaces to add coziness? What do you think makes a space "cozy"? I'd love to chat with you! You can message me on Instagram or Facebook or feel free to leave me a comment below! Just love hearing from all of you!

PS. This post contains affiliate links to make things easier for YOU. I appreciate all of the love and support and thank you so much for making this little blog possible! It means the world to me.

Hope you all have a cozy weekend! ;)
